Nordea Asset Management (NAM) – a global leader in sustainable and responsible investment – has successfully renewed it’s signatory status to the 2023 UK Stewardship Code.

The UK Stewardship Code is a voluntary set of principles that sets high expectations for how investors, and those that support them, invest and manage money on behalf of UK savers and pensioners, and how this leads to sustainable benefits for the economy, the environment and society. After an initial application, signatories are expected to submit an exhaustive annual stewardship report to the UK’s Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the body that establishes the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes.

Sustainability has long been at the core of NAM’s business model – with the group launching its first ESG sector-screened fund back in 1988. Over the past three decades, NAM has become a recognised leader in the ESG space1. It’s award-winning Responsible Investments Team is one of the largest in Europe2 , and the group is an active contributor across various initiatives – including the Net Zero Managers Initiative (which it founded), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and the Principles for Responsible Investment, to name a few.

Anders Madsen, Head of Institutional & Wholesale Distribution Northern Europe at Nordea Asset Management, said:

“At Nordea, we strive to meet the highest of expectations in our Responsible Investment, Corporate Governance and Stewardship practices. Once again we have reported our activities against the Principles of the UK Stewardship Code and demonstrated how we live up to the FRC’s standards. The UK is one of the most important asset management markets in the world, and we have been thrilled to witness local investors increasingly embrace the merits of responsible investment over recent years. At Nordea Asset Management, we are committed to further strengthening our UK capabilities to ensure a broad range of investors can access our range of forward-thinking solutions.”

As of end June 2023, 67% of NAM’s total portfolio consists of ESG products. With 22 solutions in its award winning ESG STARS range3 and 9 ESG Thematic funds. NAM offers a strong suite of responsible investment solutions covering both fixed income and equity.
