LUXEMBOURG, LU, 23/05/2023 Nordea Asset Management (NAM) is pleased to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Nordea 1 – Alpha 7 Multi Asset Fund, LU1807426207 (BP-EUR) / LU1807426629 (BI-EUR)

Nordea 1 – Alpha 7 Multi Asset Fund (“The fund”) was launched 23 May 2018 with the goal of delivering fixed income-like returns with limited sensitivity to equities and with an eye on controlling risk, especially during stressed market environments.1

Hence, the funds’ investment process takes risk management as the starting point for asset allocation, and relies on risk balancing and diversification to deliver lower beta/sensitivity to traditional asset classes.

“In order to achieve diversification, we balance both cyclical and anti-cyclical return drivers from a broad and diversified set of 20-30 risk premia spread across strategy types and asset classes. This approach has repeatedly proved its worth to investors in difficult times – such as during the Covid-19 pandemic and the more recent early 2023 bank jitters.”

Dr. Asbjørn Trolle Hansen, Portfolio Manager of Nordea 1 – Alpha 7 Multi Asset Fund

Led by Dr. Asbjørn Trolle Hansen, NAM’s Multi Assets Team follows a bottom up investment process based on extensive research capabilities, with a focus on risk premia. This removes potential dependence on top-down macro calls and allows the team to be able to deliver attractive risk-adjusted results that are less dependent on equity market movements.

The team identifies and isolates different risk premia – the excess returns arising from different types of risk. They then blend risk premia that perform well in rising markets (“risk-on” premia) with others that perform well in falling markets (“risk off”) into their Alpha strategies. With low correlations between them, the funds are risk balanced with the aim of providing investors with some exposure to up markets, while trying to limit the negative effects of market downturns

Nordea 1 – Alpha 7 Multi Asset Fund is the youngest sibling of the Alpha family, which was launched in 2007 and has been under the same management since then. Its long track record of consistent returns demonstrates the robust and repeatable nature of NAM’s investment process.2

NAM’s Multi Assets Team was founded in 2004 comprises 40 professionals managing around €150bn across a range of risk levels and asset classes.
